Easy Self Hypnosis you can Practice at Home

Self-hypnosis can be hugely beneficial at times of upset or increased stress. It can also be beneficial if practised day-to-day, as a way to aid a calm and relaxed self and in a bid to prevent days of increased stress getting on top of you. As a qualified hypnotherapist, I’m a regular user and huge believer in self-hypnosis.

When I refer to self-hypnosis, I’m not talking about taking your self so deep that your aren’t aware of what you’re doing. It’s about taking the time out to relax deeply enough to relieve yourself of the stresses and strains of everyday life. To bring yourself back to the present and to refresh yourself, ready to take on whatever may come next.

Your ten minutes self-hypnosis guide –

All it takes is ten minutes out of your day. After 2 – 3 days of practising this routine, you’re sure to notice a positive change in you mindset and wellbeing.

  • Find a quiet room in the house, where you will be free from distraction for the duration of the session.
  • You may wish to play low, relaxing music in the background and burn a relaxing scent to fill the room. Equally you may prefer complete silence, with no scent at all. Choose whatever will enable you to relax the most.
  • Sit or lie in a position that will allow your body to fully relax. You must be able to lean back, keeping your arms and legs uncrossed.
  • Once you are comfortable, close your eyes gently. Take a deep breath in through your nose and hold it for around 4 seconds.
  • Breathe out gently through your mouth, letting all the stresses of the day go as you do.
  • Repeat the last 2 steps a few more times, until you feel like your whole body is relaxed.
  • Concentrating on your breathing, count down slowly from 10 – 1. In between each count, tell yourself that your body is feeling relaxed and that you feel peaceful and calm.
  • Once your body is feeling fully relaxed, it’s time to concentrate on each part of your body separately. Pick out each part of your body, from the top of your head, right down the tips of your toes. As you move down your body, tell yourself that each part feels loose and relaxed. Tell yourself that you are releasing the tension of the day from each and every muscle.
  • After this, your body should feel incredibly relaxed and your mind at ease. Give yourself a few minutes to enjoy this feeling, whilst continuing to concentrate on your breathing.
  • Now it’s time to re-enter your day. Count slowly up from 1 – 5, moving your body and rousing yourself as you do.
  • On 5, open your eyes and reconnect with your surroundings. Once you feel ready you can get up, feeling refreshed and ready to get on with the rest of your day.

It’s important to make sure that you are fully alert before getting on with the rest of your day. Please do not attempt to take on any tasks such as driving, until you are ready!

  1. I think i’ll be needing to do this with three boys!!! I’ve previously been for hypnosis treatment but it didn’t work but I often wonder if its because I was uncomfortable with the woman doing it. Self-hypnosis will be worth a shot!
Thank you for sharing this with us at #TriumphantTales. I hope to see you back next week!
